About FWE Training
Hello I'm Paul Cosh and I am the owner and lead trainer at FWE Training. My introduction to first aid began in the late 80’s when I was knocked off my motorbike and was helped by a kindly stranger. Thankfully there was no lasting damage, and this inspired my journey into the world of First Aid.
I joined the British Red cross as a volunteer, initially as a First Aider, but over the next 10 years I moved through a variety of roles including ambulance aid and finally becoming a centre organiser with responsibility for organising equipment, manpower and even budgets.
I took a break from volunteering for a few years due to family commitments, but really missed being able to help people so joined South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust as a community first responder 17 years ago and haven’t looked back. I love my work on the front line, helping a wide variety of people and dealing with unexpected situations.

Since qualifying, I have taught First Aid to a variety of audiences including courses open to the general public which has been hugely satisfying. I am constantly updating and increasing my knowledge and can now teach on a wide variety of topics including Catastrophic Bleeds & Airway Management, Defibrillation/AED and not forgetting the all-important First Aid for Mental Health.
Work and volunteering don’t leave much free time, but when I can I enjoy getting out into the Mendips and trail running with friends. I have ran a couple of ultra-marathons, but what I really enjoy is encouraging people who have never run before, and didn’t believe they ever could, to reach their first 5k and hopefully run their first race.

My Name is Shawn Eyles and I have joined FWE Training after gaining my Award in Education and Training (AET) in 2022. My background is in the health sector primarily on front line Ambulances, I have been doing this role for 12 years and find it very rewarding. After deciding to go part time I needed something to fill my time and give back to the community at the same time, and this a perfect fit. I have lots interconnecting skills and experience from the Ambulance service, that I feel will be very useful in my role with FWE Training.
In my personal life I de-stress by taking my two springers on long walks, I also like to go on long hikes occasionally venturing over to South Wales for a walk in the mountains. My true passion is motorbikes, having ridden them since the age of 16. You could say it’s in my blood, and I take every opportunity I can to get out with friends and ride. I also paddle board which is a much slower pace but just as relaxing and also very sociable.
